FEATURED SPEAKER: Sheriff Donnie Harrison
We have one of the hardest working sheriffs in the country. Just ask him and Donnie will tell you, "I love my job!". Whether there's a call a 11 o'clock in the morning, or 11 o'clock at night, you just might see the Sheriff pull up. He's been a friend of the East Wake Republican Club, and a great sheriff! You might see him anywhere in Wake County, working with the men and women of the Wake County Sheriff's office.
“I’m not a paper-pushing Sheriff. You have to get out and work the roads if you want to know what’s going on.”—Sheriff Donnie Harrison
Donnie Harrison was first elected Sheriff of Wake County in 2002, and is serving in his his fourth term.

FEATURED SPEAKER: Jay DeLancy
Thursday evening we are pleased to have Jay DeLancy of Voter Integrity Project NC as our featured speaker. Jay DeLancy is Executive Director of VIP-NC , a trans-partisan, volunteer organization that works for open and honest elections by bringing more transparency to the process in order to ensure that no voters are disenfranchised. The group uses database analysis to detect irregularities in the voting records that could suggest patterns of fraud.
Their research has included identifying three NC counties with more than 100% of its voting-age population registered to vote (the national average is 67%), discovering almost 30,000 deceased persons still on the voter rolls; finding more than a hundred people who voted in the 2008 election and then later proved to the Wake County Clerk of Courts that they were not US citizens; and by gathering enough evidence to compel the State Board of Elections to make criminal referrals for (so far) five persons who voted twice in the Nov 2012 election.
Jay has led the way in North Carolina pushing for reforms to it's voting laws to protect all voters against fraud. He has appeared on national media including Fox and Friends, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and others. He will catch us up on legislation, legal actions, what they did in the 2016 election cycle, and what they're doing next.

NEXT MONTH: A certain popular Sheriff will be with us. STAY TUNED!

We have a very special treat for this month's meeting. John Hood is no stranger to conservatives across the state and is nationally recognized as an author and political commentator. Under his leadership, the John Locke Foundation became a powerful force in the political arena, bringing once-inaccessible political data to citizens and politicians alike and acting as a watchdog on the antics of Jones Street. They publish the Carolina Journal, sponsor the E.A. Morris Fellowship, the North Carolina History Project, and the John William Pope Center for Higher Education Policy. Hood is a compelling speaker with nearly three decades of watching North Carolina politics to draw upon. He should also have copies of his latest book available.
